Chimney professionals enter people’s homes. They access fireplaces, attics, and rooftops. They are often alone with homeowners, sometimes elderly homeowners, in spaces where physical access creates real vulnerability. The homeowners who use our directory have a right to know that the person standing in their living room has been properly screened — not just that they have a website and a phone number.
Our background check is voluntary in the sense that no government authority mandates it. It is required to receive and maintain Verified status on this platform. That requirement is intentional. If you operate a legitimate business and have nothing to hide, this step costs you very little. If you don’t — this step is exactly what protects the homeowners we exist to serve.

Good news for legitimate operators: Most professional chimney company owners pass our background check without issue. This process is designed to identify fraud patterns, serious criminal history, and identity issues — not to penalize people for minor records or matters fully resolved years ago.

Full Authorization & Disclosure
The following is the complete Voluntary Background Check Authorization & Disclosure for Verified Chimney Pros, LLC. Read each section carefully before completing the signature form below.
By submitting this form, you acknowledge that participation in the Verified Chimney Pros background screening program is voluntary. You are not required by any law or government authority to complete this screening. However, completion and approval of this screening are required conditions for obtaining and maintaining “Verified” status within our directory. Choosing not to submit this authorization means you will not qualify for listing on the Verified Chimney Pros platform.
You hereby authorize Verified Chimney Pros, LLC, and its designated screening agents, to obtain consumer reports and/or investigative consumer reports about you for verification purposes. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Criminal history records at the state, county, and federal level
- Identity verification against submitted documents
- Business registration verification
- Professional license verification, where applicable
- Sex offender registry checks at the state and national level
- Public records and civil judgments relevant to fraud or consumer harm
The information obtained through this background screening will be used solely for the following purposes:
- Determining eligibility for Verified Chimney Pros listing status
- Maintaining quality, trust, and safety within the Verified Chimney Pros directory
- Protecting homeowners from fraudulent, unqualified, or unsafe service providers
We do not sell, share, or use background check information for any other purpose. Background check results are held confidentially and are not displayed on your public listing, shared with homeowners, or provided to any third party except as required by applicable law.
You understand and acknowledge that Verified Chimney Pros, LLC is not your employer, and this background check is not being conducted for employment purposes. It is strictly for third-party directory verification purposes. This authorization does not create any employment relationship, agency relationship, partnership, or joint venture between you and Verified Chimney Pros.
5. Your Consumer Rights — FCRA Compliance
You acknowledge your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., including:
- Right to request a copy of your consumer report— you may request a copy of any report obtained about you through this process
- Right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information— if you believe any information in a report is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to dispute it with the consumer reporting agency that prepared it
- Right to be informed of adverse action— if background check results lead to a decision that adversely affects your listing eligibility, you will be notified in accordance with FCRA requirements

6. Adverse Findings & Listing Removal
Verified Chimney Pros reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to:
- Deny Verified listing status based on background check findings
- Revoke previously granted Verified status if new information comes to our attention
- Remove any listing that poses a risk to consumers, based on background findings or credible complaints
- Request additional documentation or clarification before making a final determination
Where adverse action is taken that is not due to urgent consumer safety concerns, we will notify you in advance and provide an opportunity to respond before the decision is finalized. Decisions are made in the best interest of homeowner safety and platform integrity.
7. Release of Liability
By agreeing to this authorization, you release and hold harmless Verified Chimney Pros, LLC; its owners, officers, employees, and agents; and any third-party screening providers used in this process from any and all liability arising from:
- The collection, use, or storage of background information obtained through this authorization
- Any listing eligibility decisions made based on background check results
- Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in public records, third-party databases, or consumer reporting agency records
8. Accuracy of Information
You certify that all information you provide as part of your listing application and background check authorization is true, complete, and accurate to the best of your knowledge. Providing false, misleading, or intentionally incomplete information may result in:
- Immediate denial or removal from the Verified Chimney Pros platform
- Forfeiture of any fees paid
- Reporting to relevant licensing authorities where applicable
- Legal action for fraud or misrepresentation
9. Ongoing Monitoring
You acknowledge that Verified Chimney Pros may conduct periodic re-verification or background monitoring to ensure continued compliance with our verification standards. Active members may be asked to re-authorize background screening upon annual renewal or at any time we receive credible information that warrants re-review. Failure to cooperate with re-verification may result in suspension or removal of Verified status.
10. Electronic Consent
You acknowledge that Verified Chimney Pros may conduct periodic re-verification or background monitoring to ensure continued compliance with our verification standards. Active members may be asked to re-authorize background screening upon annual renewal or at any time we receive credible information that warrants re-review. Failure to cooperate with re-verification may result in suspension or removal of Verified status.
11. Badge & Platform Permissions
Upon approval for Verified status, you grant Verified Chimney Pros, LLC permission to:
- Display your company name, contact information, and “Verified” status publicly within our directory
- Reference your Verified status in platform marketing and trust-building content
- Use your company name in service area search results visible to homeowners
This permission is limited to the duration of active membership. Upon cancellation or removal, we will update the platform to reflect your non-active status within 7 business days.

What Happens After You Submit
Once you submit your background check authorization along with your full listing application, here is what to expect:
