Homeowner FAQs
What does the Verified badge actually mean?
Every company with a Verified Chimney Pros badge has passed our manual review process — which includes confirming their professional certifications with the issuing organization, reviewing their current Certificate of Insurance, completing a background check on the owner and key technicians, and reviewing their public complaint history. The badge cannot be purchased without passing this review.
Does Verified status guarantee the quality of work?
No. Verification is a credential baseline check — it confirms who a company is and that their basic professional requirements are in order. It does not guarantee the outcome of any specific job. We always encourage homeowners to get written estimates, review service agreements, and ask questions before authorizing work.
Is Verified Chimney Pros affiliated with CSIA?
No. We are completely independent. When we reference CSIA certifications, we are describing the type of credential we verify — not indicating any affiliation with or endorsement by the Chimney Safety Institute of America. CSIA is an independent nonprofit. We are not a CSIA-affiliated program. See our full disclaimer for all non-affiliation statements.
What should I do if I was scammed by a chimney company?
Report it to your state’s Attorney General consumer protection office, the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org), the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), and your local police if fraud occurred. If the company is in our directory, email us at admin@verifiedchimneypros.com with subject “Scam Report — [Company Name].” We take these reports seriously and will review the listing.
How much should a chimney inspection cost?
A legitimate chimney sweep and Level 1 inspection in most U.S. markets runs $175–$275. A Level 2 camera inspection typically costs $300–$450. If you’re quoted significantly below these figures from an unsolicited source, treat it as a warning sign — not a deal. Most chimney scams start with an artificially low price and escalate once the technician is in your home.
How do I find a verified pro in my area?
Visit verifiedchimneypros.com/chimney-pros and enter your city or zip code. Results show verified companies in your area. If no verified companies appear in your area yet, use the hiring checklist on our Homeowners page to verify any company you consider independently.

Pro FAQs
How do I apply to get verified?
Visit verifiedchimneypros.com/join. The application takes approximately 10 minutes and requires your state license or business registration number, a current Certificate of Insurance (COI), your professional certification number and expiration date, your service area, and background check authorization. We review within 3–5 business days.
What certifications do I need to qualify?
We verify professional chimney certifications — most commonly CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) or NFI (National Fireplace Institute) credentials. At least one technician in your company must hold a current, active professional certification. If your credentials have expired, you will need to renew before applying. We do not require specific certifications if your state has its own licensing requirements and you hold those.
How much does a listing cost?
The Chimney Pro tier is $99 one-time setup + $99/month. The Semi-Pro Pack is $499 setup + $199/month and includes a custom website and local SEO. The Pro Pack includes full CRM, automation, and AI systems — contact us for pricing. One booked job per month covers the entry-level cost.
Does joining mean I'm affiliated with CSIA or NCSG?
No. Verified Chimney Pros is an independent platform. Joining our directory does not confer membership in, affiliation with, or endorsement by CSIA, NCSG, NFA, NFPA, NFI, or any other organization. Your Verified badge represents our independent review of your credentials — nothing more.
Can my listing be removed after approval?
Yes. If your credentials lapse (expired insurance or certification), if we receive credible consumer complaints about fraudulent behavior, or if your listing information is found to be materially inaccurate, your listing may be suspended or removed. We notify members before taking action in non-emergency situations and provide an opportunity to respond.
I received an email saying my company was scraped into another directory. Is that you?
No. We do not scrape businesses from Google or other sources and cold-email them to “claim” listings they didn’t create. Every company in our directory applied to be here. If you received a suspicious email from a directory claiming to have already listed your company, that is a different service operating a different model. We encourage you to read about how our verification process works before applying.
